The Wild Gang doing what they do best...

The Wild Gang has a few favorite things  to do each day. Here they are busy laying on the porch, snuggling with Bella the goat and eating Hickory nuts. Yes they eat these like they are starving. They crack them open and I'm pretty sure a few shells go down with the nuts. So far the Vet has not been needed but I would not be surprised if it happens!

Guard on Duty...

Maggie has several of her own places to lay in OUR house...her couch..her dog bed..OUR bed...OUR couch.! One of her fave things to do in the morning is lay in the living room floor with her head on the windowsill and guard the premises. Here she is on duty !

We know when the temperature drops...

  • When the temperature drops outside, we always know. There is the sound of the "doggie" door opening and a cat appears!  Sally is a regular weather forecasting cat. The same thing goes for rain too.  Here she is in one of her fave places...our computer chair.

Oh this was bad.....REALLY REALLY bad!!!

Every year at Thanksgiving, Don makes the dressing. He typically makes it a few days in advance and freezes it. Well, yesterday was the day. He boiled a chicken, cooked cornbread and biscuits. He carefully pulled the meat of the chicken and put it in a plate. Then we went out briefly(about 3 minutes) and I heard Don say "where is Maggie?"...Hmm I  think, ..surely she is not in the house eating the chicken!!!   Next thing I know he is furious and shouting.."You know what that dog did..she ate ALL the chicken and he  made several gestures. One gesture looked as if he was signifying a choking of someone or thing...lol.  Well needless to say "Trouible" aka Maggie was in the dog house  awhile so to speak...but now she is out and all is well. He just has to cook another chicken!  Now who could stay mad at this sweet face?

If you beg loud enough...

Bella thinks she is a dog. They are all hanging out on the back porch looking in  to see what is happening.. She "baaas" ( her way of begging) til I can't take it anymore. Here she is visiting with us in the house...not the first time for this. and not the last!!

The Dreaded annual Fall occurance around here.

Every Fall we dread deer season only because of what the "Wild Gang" does. They drag up deer parts from the neighborhood almost daily. As you can see in the pic, Darcy has a yummy deer spine. Actually, sweet Gus drug it so proudly but she quickly stole it from him. They will gnaw on these parts for hours if I don't confiscate them. When they went to bed tonight they all had a treasure to work on through out the night.

Time Change means nothing to "THE CLAW"

So...Maggie wakes us up each morning by giving one of us a painful scrape  we have  named " THE CLAW".  With the time change we thought we would sleep an extra hour. but. ..instead of getting "the claw" at the typical 7:06 a.m.  this morning it arrived at 6:06. Maggie was still on old time and so administered "the claw". this is Maggie with her "who me?" face!!!

Maggie "THINKS" she knows them!!

We had 4 trick or treaters if you count the "Spa Lady". Maggie was a little thrown off by the head gear I think...Or maybe the 'green" face.

Silly Goats...

So I have the silliest goats.   They all have their own hay rack in their own pen.  However,  Speck steals hay from Lexie's hay rack and Lexie steals hay from Bella's hay rack. Poor Bella is still too short to steal from anyone's though.  Speck has also been known to steal Lexie's dry feed....someone in my family has been calling him "DEVILISH". While we were gone someone got their hand scrapped etc trying to shut a gate that he wanted to butt!!!  That someone is known to a couple of you...can you figure it out?? Here is sweet Speck.

Darcy dog has hip/knee pain...let me know your ideas for pain relief.

Darcy has mild hip dysplagia. She also has apparently hurt her knee joint on the same side as the worse hip. Vet has recommended several possible things to decrease the pain. I have listed them as answer choices on my latest poll to the left... Any helpful ideas are appreciated...

BELLA GOAT WENT BELLY DEEP IN POND MUD

SO...THIS  MORNING ME AND THE WILD GANG WENT WALKING TO THE POND. THE DOGS WERE ALL WALKING AROUND THE EDGE IN THE MUD AND SO BELLA DECIDED TO FOLLOW. WELL, SHE ENDED UP WITH ALL 4 LEGS SUNK AND HUNG IN THE MUD AND JUST SITTING THERE ON HER BELLY. OH HOW I WISH I HAD MY CAMERA WITH ME THEN.  SINCE HER HEAD WAS RIGHT AT THE WATER LINE...AND I WAS MIRING UP IN THE MUD TOO..I JUST GRABBED WHAT I COULD WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE HER BACK FUR ...TO PULL HER OUT. NOT SURE SHE APPRECIATED THAT !!! HERE IS AN AFTER PIC.

CHASING GOATS BEFORE WORK

Well, it seems Speck has learned that if he butts the metal gate really hard he can open it.  I had just put out fresh water for the goats and was heading in to get ready for work, when i heard a "baa". To my surprise and  aggravation, the goats were out. I tried a new strategy..a can of dog food to coax them in the barn...WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!.....and yes I gave them each a little dog food for a reward!
